Vals is a friendly little Alpine village of 600 souls set in the Vallertal valley, at an altitude of 1,350 metres. The majestic Pfunders mountains that frame it to the north offer endless opportunities for walking and hiking. One of the most scenic and best-known sights in the area is Fane Alm, which has been crowned the “most beautiful Alpine village in South Tyrol”. And most beautiful it is indeed, so much so that it attracts scores of visitors all year round.

In Vals, you can do more than just imagine such a picture: you can explore it. On foot, snowshoes or skis. In summer, Vals is all about walking, hiking and exploring. Families are spoilt for choice: for example, they can take the pleasant hike to Fane Alm or let the little ones run riot at the Jochtal Adventure Park, where they can have a great time with the petting zoo, the deer-shaped climbing frame, the balance course and other attractions. Those with a passion for heights can indulge it climbing the Wilde Kreuzspitze peak or the Wurmaulspitze peak. And everyone can enjoy the fantastic 360-degree view from the Steinermandl panoramic platform.

How to get to Vals.
Vals is only a few minutes’ drive from Mühlbach. If you are travelling by car from the north, south or west, take the A22 motorway and exit at Brixen-Vahrn. Continue to Mühlbach and turn left onto Meransner Straße. Continue along the road to the crossroads and follow the signs towards Vals. If you are arriving from the east, follow the Pustertaler Straße road directly to Mühlbach and turn right towards Vals.
If you are travelling by train from the north, south or west, change at Franzensfeste station and take the regional train to Mühlbach station. From there, bus number 412 will take you to Vals. If you are coming from the east, you can travel directly to Mühlbach station and then take the bus to Vals.
Attention: Due to construction work on the Riggertal loop, the Puster Valley railway is partially closed.
