Enjoy a 360-degree view
Here’s a foretaste
From its position at 2,510 metres of altitude, the panoramic platform on Mt. Gitschberg commands a great all-round view of the surrounding mountains, whose names are indicated on the circular railing around the platform. On a clear day, you can admire over 500 mountain peaks from up there.
The Gitschberg panoramic platform in detail
In summer, the panoramic platform is an excellent destination for a hike, and you can choose from several paths to get there. In winter, you can ski your way to the platform from the Gitschberg chairlift mountain terminal – or take your skis off and cover the short distance on foot.
What awaits you is a spectacular 360-degree view embracing the Dolomites and the Eisacktal valley all the way beyond the Austrian border. And if you want to take a closer look at the peaks, you can do so using the telescope.
How to get there
The best way to get to the panoramic platform is by taking the Nesselbahn lift in Meransen to the Gitschberg mountain terminal. During the hiking season, it takes a little more than an hour to walk there on path No. 12, which leads first to the Gitschhütte hut and then on to the platform on the mountain top. In winter, you can take the chairlift and get there on skis.
