Terenten is a village of 1,800 souls nestled at 1,210 metres of altitude. The special thing about Terenten is that it enjoys more hours of sunshine than any other locality in South Tyrol. In winter, you can get your daily fix of sun rays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., while in summer the sun comes up much earlier and doesn’t set until 8 p.m. This sunny location is reflected in the sunny disposition of the locals, who are known for their warmth and friendliness. Perhaps this is why some say that the sun never sets in Terenten. The village, which is also called Terento in the Italian language, is located on a high plateau above the Pustertal valley, directly along the Pustertal Sun Road, and has plenty to offer from walking paths to family-friendly adventures. So… let’s see what you can expect!

In winter, the best way to enjoy Terenten’s sunshine is by hitting the slopes. Make your way across the wide snowy fields on your snowshoes or walk on manicured paths in the snow, show off your swing on the ski pistes of the Gitschberg Jochtal ski resort or race your family on Terenten’s two toboggan runs. If you’d rather enjoy the snow away from the busy pistes, you can choose one of the fantastic ski tours in the area, explore the cross-country ski trail or take advantage of the village lift if you don’t feel like going the distance required to reach the main ski pistes. Does this sound like your cup of winter tea?

Apart from an almost endless source of vitamin D, in the summer Terenten is also a coveted destination thanks to its charming natural landscapes. There are numerous walks and trails to choose from if you would like to fill your lungs with fresh mountain air and get to know more about South Tyrol. For example, you can take a walk on the Mills trail all the way to the earth pyramids – Terenten’s most-renowned natural sight. This walk is as pleasant as it is family-friendly, but if you are a hiking fiend in search of a challenge, Terenten has something in store for you, too. How about a hike to the Tiefrastenhütte hut, or a climb up one of the Big Five?

If the children or teenagers in your family are champing at the bit, the Terenten Active Park will give them the action and entertainment they need, with a climbing tower, a giant slide, a rope course and a water attraction.
