Come and enjoy the view away from the crowds! Another place in the Pfunderertal valley you may want to visit is Weitental, a little hamlet of 700 people at an altitude of 880 metres belonging to the municipality of Vintl.

And if you want to go even higher, Pfunders is the perfect starting point: there are plenty of walking paths and high-mountain trails to choose from, such as the family-friendly Pfunders Farm trail or the far more challenging Pfunders High Mountain trail – a wonderfully panoramic 71.7-kilometre, 5-stage trek that takes you from Sterzing to St. Georgen in the Pustertal valley. The hamlet of Weitental, with its red-roofed church steeple and its scattering of Alpine-style buildings tucked away in green surroundings, is our best tip for those in search of a quiet, idyllic place not too far removed from civilisation: the town of Brixen is just a 20-minute drive away!

How to get to the Pfunderertal valley.

If you are travelling by car, you can reach Weitental and Pfunders from Vintl by turning left (coming from the west) or right (coming from the east). About four kilometres past Vintl you will reach Weitental, with Pfunders a further six kilometres along the road.

You can also reach Vintl by train, from where there is a regular bus service to Pfunders.
