In winter, the Pfunderertal valley takes on a snow-globe appeal. Nothing but white, glistening expanses as far as the eye can see, and the powerful image of the snow-capped mountains to frame the horizon. Everything is tucked under a duvet of serenity, and the silence is such that you almost get the instinct to lower your voice. Immerse yourself in this idyll by taking leisurely winter walks or snowshoe hikes, or by going on a ski touring adventure on the fresh powder snow. Or… just be a child again and enjoy the snow like you used to back then!

Escape the summer heat and enjoy the mild climate of the Pfunderertal valley! Here at almost 1,000 metres of altitude, you can sunbathe to your heart’s content or spend pleasant hours under the shade of trees without ever feeling oppressed by the heat. And if you want to go even higher, Pfunders is the perfect starting point: there are plenty of walking paths and high-mountain trails to choose from, such as the family-friendly Pfunders Farm trail or the far more challenging Pfunders High Mountain trail – a wonderfully panoramic 71.7-kilometre, 5-stage trek that takes you from Sterzing to St. Georgen in the Pustertal valley. The hamlet of Weitental, with its red-roofed church steeple and its scattering of Alpine-style buildings tucked away in green surroundings, is our best tip for those in search of a quiet, idyllic place not too far removed from civilisation: the town of Brixen is just a 20-minute drive away!
