Gitschberg Jochtal – your family-friendly ski resort in South Tyrol

In the Gitschberg Jochtal ski resort, everyone can get their money’s worth – from leisure skiers to carving fiends and daring shredders. With a total of 55 kilometres of ski pistes, it is one of the largest ski resorts in South Tyrol, and the largest in the Eisacktal and Wipptal area. The Gitschberg Jochtal ski resort extends at altitudes between 1,307 and 2,510 metres, and is served by 15 lift facilities that bring skiers of all age groups to the starting points of its 25 ski pistes and four toboggan runs. To reach the ski resort from the villages, you can use either the Jochtalbahn lift in Vals or the Gitschberg-Nesselbahn lift in Meransen. The Gitschberg Jochtal ski resort is also perfect for a family ski holiday in South Tyrol, as it offers three children’s snow parks where the little ones can play and have fun on the snow.

Gitschberg Jochtal ski resort – opening hours

The opening hours of the various lift are displayed at the respective facilities. Generally, lifts run from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.

The Gitschberg cable car, the Jochtal cable car and the Gaisjoch connection will all operate from 05.12.2024 to 20.04.2025. (*until 30.03.2025)

Ski schools and ski hire shops

The Gitschberg ski school in Meransen has been there for you since 1979, and it’s one of South Tyrol’s award-winning children’s ski schools in South Tyrol. Here you will find qualified ski instructors ready to teach you and your children how to ski or snowboard.

The Gitschberg ski school offers an extensive range of services:

  • Children's park in the village center with 3 magic carpets and skilift (Meetingpoint 1)
  • Children's park at the exit of the Nesselbahn (Meetingpoint 3)
  • Children's courses in the morning
  • Full day courses for children

The Dolomiti Superski circuit

Dolomiti Superski is the world’s largest ski circuit: it comprises twelve different ski resorts in the Dolomites, with a total of 1,200 kilometres of slopes, all accessible using a single pass. The Gitschberg Jochtal ski resort is one of them, so you can choose to buy a combined lift pass that gives you access not only to the Gitschberg Jochtal ski resort, but to all the other Dolomiti Superski ski areas as well.
